Frequently asked questions
How do Nairalot competitions work?
Each competition has a prize, a fixed number of tickets and a closing date. You buy one or more tickets, answer a skill question, and when the competition closes one ticket number is drawn at random to win.
Who can enter?
You must be 18 or older and live in Nigeria to enter. We verify the identity and age of every winner before a prize is handed over.
How are winners chosen?
Winners are drawn at random using a verifiable process. Before a competition opens we publish a fingerprint of a secret seed, and after it closes we combine that seed with public randomness, so anyone can check that the winning ticket was not picked by us.
How do I pay?
You can pay with a Nigerian debit card, bank transfer or USSD through our payment partner. Your ticket numbers are confirmed as soon as payment succeeds.
Can I take cash instead of the prize?
Many competitions offer a cash alternative, shown on the competition page. If you win, you choose the prize or the cash alternative when you claim it.
How will I know if I have won?
We contact winners by phone, email and SMS straight after the draw, and results are published on our winners page. You can also check every ticket you hold in your account.
